We have 3.# 1 is for are car, because we live in CO were we get large amunots of snow and blizzards, we keep one kit in are car in we get lost or slide off the road. The kit consist of bottled water, two cans of spaghetti O's, some trial mix, toilet paper, a pack of lighters, lighter fluid, a first aid kit, a change of cloths, diapers, heat blankets, blankets, to pillows, a whistle, a flash light and a pack of batteries.# 2 is in the house in the kitchen cabinet. It's are fire pack. Change of cloths, and snacks.# 3 is in the basement. It's are Tornado kit. It consist of a change of cloths for every one, diapers, jugs of water, trail mix, first aid kit, flash lights, lighters, toys for the kids, sleeping bags and pillows.We go though and redo are kits every year.MCL

I agree. Two weeks worth of food is not a very big cache and could easily just be kept in your parnty. I was mostly interested in seeing what kinds of items Food Insurance put in their kits. I got the two week kit because it is the smallest and cheapest. I am guessing that their longer term kits have similar items in them. Bit the bullet on this two week kit so we could all see what was inside.

I suffered a couple of unexpected and strong tropical rain showers and a poncho is valuable in these situations. On this item, the plastic side fasteners are really strong and the wind does not undo them. Just be cautious when reopening them....one at a time and not all at once...No one should go out without a Poncho...I even had rain in the middle of the sahara...and it can be used as a shelter, tent, signalisation flag,...

I tested the kits on really hungry and rather big sea creatures....it worked but is a little "light" for what I dealt with...would work well in areas with smaller fishes...definitely not in tuna and other shark infested seas...was fine from the shore in the ponds left behind by the tide.

I went on a semi-survival trip on the French desert corral ring of Clipperton Dec 2011/Jan 2012. I tested the pills on sulphuric guano laden water and did not get sick. That should tell you!

This is my favorite, a must with or without a stove. These things work everywhere, rain or shine and a square is enough to heat up a whole army canteen cup of water for coffee.
